Praise for Ideas Are Terrible Lovers
"Q wrote a book. Not just any book, but one that speaks of who she is, truly. She is a straight healer + straight magic human. What a gift for the rest of us still learning to find and cherish our existence. She, a soft reminder in this journey." - Damneet Kaur, writer + activist
Ideas Are Terrible Lovers: 75 Writing Prompts For Those Who Think They Cannot Be Writers
This book is a collection of prose and writing prompts for reluctant writers. It has very personal memories of times in my life where I had to learn [and engage in] self-love, take accountability for my actions, and how to stand up in my own strength. I don't think I realized that I would ever share what I wrote, until I thought-
Maybe I'm not the only who thinks and feels these things right now. Maybe I'm not the only who feels stupid about leaving everything behind that was so sure and so safe to try and chase a dream. I feel like I'm getting nowhere. It looks and sounds like I'm getting nowhere. And I'm too ashamed (and stubborn) to go back, so I guess...I have to figure out how I'm going to keep moving forward.
Now is the time to learn how far I can really go.
Ideas Are Terrible Lovers is about lighting a match to your creativity that should spark your writing endeavors- whatever they may be. It is a call to action to shake off your impostor syndrome and share your gifts with the world.
So.
Who is this book for?
Well.
I wrote it, foremost, with the hesitant writer in mind.
I wrote it for people who dare to dream- but are their own biggest enemy and obstacle.
I wrote it for those who struggle with feeling like they have nothing of value to offer the world.
I wrote it to encourage people to share their good ideas with the world- even when they have no one cheering them on. (I learned that you always have people cheering you on, by the way- it's just from people you don't expect or people you don't want to cheer you on as much as the people you WISH would cheer you on. Oh yeah, you got cheerleaders!).
I wrote it so that people would start to name their ideas aloud- so that they could begin to chase after them.
I wrote it for myself so that there could be a light at the end of the longest tunnel that I have ever encountered.
